CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pressed IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht on Tuesday’s bombing of a refugee camp in Gaza that Israel says killed a senior Hamas legitimate who was once involved with the Oct. 7 terror assault.

The Instances of Israel said that the IDF said the strike killed the commander of Hamas’s Relevant Jabaliya Battalion, Ibrahim Biari, and “several different terrorists and brought about underground terror tunnels to cave in, bringing down several local structures.”

“Palestinian experiences mentioned at least 50 individuals have been killed in the strike and subsequent crumple,” the file added.

Blitzer pressed Hecht on the civilian dying toll from the bombing:

But although that Hamas commander was there, amidst all these Palestinian refugees who are in there in that Jabalya refugee camp, Israel still went in advance and dropped a bomb there attempting to kill this Hamas, Hamas commander, figuring out that plenty of innocent civilians, males, women and kids possibly would be killed. Is that what I’m hearing?

“That’s not what you’re hearing, Wolf. We, once more, have been considering this commander, again, who you’ll get extra information who this man was. Killed, many, many Israelis. And we’re doing the whole lot we will. It’s an extraordinarily difficult battle area. There will be infrastructure there. There may be tunnels there. And we’re still having a look into and we’ll give you more knowledge because the hour moves in advance,” Hecht answered.

“But you know that there are a lot of refugees, various harmless civilians, men, women and children in that refugee camp as neatly. Right?” Blitzer followed up.

“That is the tragedy of battle, Wolf. I mean, we as you realize, we’ve been saying for days, ‘Transfer south, civilians that aren’t involved with Hamas, please move south,’” Hecht responded.

Blitzer persevered, “Just trying to get more information. You knew there have been civilians there. You knew there have been refugees, all different types of refugees. But you decided to still drop a bomb on that refugee camp attempting to kill this Hamas commander. By means of the way in which, was once he killed?”

“I will’t verify but. There’ll be more updates,” Hecht spoke back concerning the civilian toll.

“Sure, we know that he was killed and concerning the civilians there. We’re doing the whole lot we are able to to minimize. I’ll let you know again, unluckily, they’re hiding themselves within the civilian population. And once more, we’re doing this stage via stage and we’re going to move after each this kind of terrorists who was interested in that hideous attack on the seventh of October, Wolf,” Hecht delivered as the interview had some audio issues.
