Former President Donald Trump delivered remarks at Friday’s Black Conservative Federation Honors Gala in Columbia, South Carolina – and what remarks they were.

At one point, Trump told attendees that “lots of people” have been pronouncing that his popularity amongst Black folks is on the upward thrust because of the 91 legal counts he’s dealing with.

“And a lot of people stated that that’s why the Black people like me, as a result of they have got been hurt so badly and discriminated towards,” he said. “And so they in reality seen me as– I’m being discriminated towards. It’s been pretty superb.”

CNN’s Abby Phillip aired the remarks on CNN NewsNight while also flagging some feedback the former president made concerning the lighting fixtures at Friday’s gala.
