Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the chairman of the House Make a Selection Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, informed Nicolle Wallace on Friday that former President Donald Trump is welcome to testify ahead of the panel.

“We wanted to prove that this wasn’t one thing that simply happened. It wasn’t an ordinary congressional tour and wasn’t traditional speech,” Thompson informed the host of MSNBC’s Time limit: White Home.

“This was a riot. This was once an rebellion that used to be deliberate and orchestrated by means of Donald Trump,” Thompson added.

“I’ve to ask you this, simply in keeping with your responses this afternoon, if Donald Trump asked to come back and testify before the committee, would you accommodate that request?” Wallace then asked.

“Yes,” Thompson responded immediately.

“Wow. All right,” Wallace said, apparently stunned. “Smartly, we will be able to keep our eyes open.”

“We welcome the previous president, he will have to come underneath oath,” Thompson brought, providing Trump, who efficiently evaded sworn testimony throughout the Mueller probe, a warning.

“He’s a citizen. And if he thinks he can come to our committee beneath oath, and perjure himself, then I would recommend he does now not come,” Thompson concluded.
