Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) slammed Donald Trump for expressing issue about “election integrity” after the former president tried to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump held a press conference with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) at Mar-a-Lago on Friday amid a significant challenge to Johnson’s management in the Home.

The speaker announced the House will absorb an “election integrity” invoice intended to deal with the kinds of nonexistent widespread voter fraud Trump claims happened within the 2020 election, which the ex-president falsely alleges was rigged against him. For his section, Johnson echoed these claims in the weeks after the election and in some way voted against certifying it.

“I’m going to announce to you lately right here, standing alongside President Trump, that we will be able to do the whole lot inside our power to make sure that we do have free and honest elections on this u . s . a .,” Johnson said at Friday’s presser. “If we don’t have that in a constitutional republic, we have nothing.”

Swalwell seemed later that night on CNN’s AC360, the place Anderson Cooper performed a clip of Johnson discussing the prospect of undocumented immigrants voting illegally.

“I’m questioning what you product of his shuttle all the way down to Mar-a-Lago,” Cooper mentioned to the lawmaker.

“Spare me, Anderson,” he replied. “I mean, it’s too rich that Donald Trump and Mike Johnson are talking to us about election integrity.
