The Dispatch, the conservative outlet based by former Fox Information contributors Stephen Hayes and Jonah Goldberg, issued a rare editorial rebuking President Donald Trump over his “pursuit of American decline” on Thursday.

Under the headline “Slouching Against Tyranny: On a gloomy hour for the American proper,” the publication’s editors lamented that the “outdated principles” of “American world leadership, free markets, restricted govt, constancy to the Constitution,” were set aside in favor of “new and recent ideas.”

“What are these new and fresh concepts? For some, they are literally monarchism or autocracy. For others, they are mercantilism and a division of the world into ‘spheres of affect,’” they persisted. “In short, their overseas coverage used to be ancient when Charlemagne was once on the throne, and their economic philosophy used to be hatched in the fifteenth century.”

The editorial went on to assail Trump over his international coverage views and change policy sooner than submitting that “nowhere is the evidence of the brand new right’s willful decline extra glaring than in its rejection of constancy to the guideline of law and the Constitution.
