People crowd around monument, erected in honour of victims of Egypt's revolutions after security forces fired teargas at protesters in Tahrir square in downtown CairoVia Maggie Fick CAIRO (Reuters) – Hundreds of Egyptians gathered in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Tuesday to commemorate the deaths of protesters killed two years in the past and phone for reforms, with many voicing uncommon criticism of the powerful defense force. Supporters of army chief Normal Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, who promised stability and free elections when he overthrew elected Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July, also confirmed up at Tahrir but had been chased away via activists. The military and the police were lionized within the press and public since the fall of Mursi and his Muslim Brotherhood backers. However the protesters who gathered in Tahrir said the targets of the popular rebellion which toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak in 2011 had no longer been met and accused the security forces of appearing largely with impunity in the intervening two years.
