Former Vice President Mike Pence took a swing at former President Donald Trump over his pledge to not touch Medicare and Social Safety if he is elected president once more.

Pence is broadly considered as a contender for the 2024 Republican nomination. Trump has already declared.

Appearing on Fox Business on Thursday, Pence was asked about recent remarks he made.

“You referred to that President Trump was once an immense spender,” said host Larry Kudlow, who used to be director of the Nationwide Financial Council beneath Trump. “You disagree with him on entitlements. You say we’ve gotta deal with Medicare. We’re gonna have to deal with Social Security. What were you getting at?”

Pence mentioned domestic spending must be controlled.

“Look, our administration could’ve completed a greater job controlling home spending,” he responded. “I absolutely supported what we did in rebuilding our armed forces after years of price range cutbacks. I supported emergency reduction all through Covid for families and for businesses that propped up our economic system. But between there, Larry, we will have executed better. And most essential of all, shall we’ve begun a national debate for coping with the true driver of our nationwide debt which is 70% of our federal budget as you know, which is entitlements.”

The previous veep went on to claim Trump has the same policy on entitlements as President Joe Biden.

“Unfortunately, my former working mate’s coverage is identical to Joe Biden’s, and different Republicans are walking faraway from a commitment to entitlement reform,” he persisted. “I feel we’ve gotta be honest with the American individuals.”

Pence mentioned the modifications he wants to look in Medicare and Social Security would no longer impact any person who plans to retire in the subsequent 25 years.
