Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) and CNN commentator Scott Jennings argued concerning the mental fitness of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) after the senator iced over up this week.

While talking to newshounds in Kentucky on Thursday, McConnell entered a catatonic state after being asked whether he’s going to run for reelection in 2026. It was his second such episode in a bit of over a month.

Jennings, who has been an adviser to the 81-year-previous McConnell, insisted the lawmaker is fit to continue serving as the leader of his party in the Senate. Walsh disagreed.

“He’s been there manner too lengthy and he’s too darn previous,” Walsh mentioned. “But the issue right here is transparency. I savor what Scott stated, and I do know Scott is aware of Mitch McConnell pretty smartly. But we don’t comprehend a darn thing about what’s fallacious with him.”

Jennings scoffed at Walsh’s statement.

“Neatly, I mean, Joe, I guess, has been dwelling under a rock,” he replied. “We do know what’s going on with Senator McConnell. He had a concussion past this 12 months, and these signs and these issues are in keeping with restoration from a concussion. So, it’s lovely well-known. He took a couple of weeks off to begin that restoration process and he’s been at work all summer. So, it’s just no longer proper that we don’t know what’s going on with Mitch McConnell.”

Jennings then criticized an editorial from the conservative National Evaluate that called on McConnell to step apart.

“I’m an avid follower of Nationwide Evaluate, he endured. “I know no longer many Republicans are at the present time, and I do know Rich [Lowery] has to run a newsletter that competes for clicks and whatnot on the web, but I believed he was means off base–”

“Oh, come on, Scott!” Walsh interjected. “Come on, Scott. As a former member of Congress, some of these people who find themselves there, they feel like they’re entitled to be there so long as they want. Whilst you’re a United States senator or a member of the Home and there’s something wrong with you bodily, you could have an responsibility to be open and transparent with the voters.”

Jennings pushed back.

“The idea that any person feels entitled to be there – smartly, he is entitled to be there as a result of he acquired elected via the folks of Kentucky,” he responded. “After which he got elected by his colleagues. So, , he gained elections and that’s why he’s in his seat. He’s not entitled to it. No one’s entitled to it. However we appear to forget he did handily win the election in 2020 and handily win election to Senate Republican leader simply ultimate year. So, the speculation he was once placed there or has possession of it is only additionally no longer true.”

“He’s now not entitled to be there if he can’t do his job,” Walsh replied. “And if he can’t inform his parts what’s mistaken with him, that’s a problem.”
