New York City mayor Eric Adams is making an allowance for running for president in 2024 if President Joe Biden decides not to are seeking a 2nd term, the New York Publish reported Saturday.

Consistent with the document, which was once generally according to interviews with “confidantes and Metropolis Corridor insiders,” Adams has broached the speculation a large number of times and may run if Biden does now not in 2024.

“Eric has instructed me time and again that he thinks that he has a platform to run for nationwide workplace, for president in 2024,” one source informed the Submit. “He has stated that many times. He thinks New York is a national platform. He thinks the nationwide birthday party has gotten too some distance to the left and he thinks he has a platform to win.”

The Submit noted that Adams looked as if it would let slip that he was once bearing in mind the speculation last week, telling a crowd if he had been screened early for dyslexia “right now, we’d be now not announcing simply ‘Mr. Mayor,’ you’d probably be saying ‘Mr. President.’”

Adams adviser Evan Thies advised Insider that the claims within the Post article are “one-hundred p.c false.”

“There’s a distinction between gossip and information—and the truth is that the mayor is completely eager about bringing New York Metropolis again by way of decreasing crime, rising our financial system and reversing inequality,” Thies advised Insider.

If Adams were to run, he would subscribe to a slew of former NYC mayors-became-presidential hopefuls including John Lindsay, DeWitt Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg and Invoice de Blasio — the latter of whom is now operating for Congress.
