Home Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) introduced Wednesday night that he’s going to now not meet with contributors of the Home make a choice committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol rise up.

In a letter to McCarthy past within the day, the committee asked him to voluntarily talk with the panel about what transpired that day.

The letter stated:

We write to request your voluntary cooperation with our investigation on a range of very important themes, together with your conversations with President Trump sooner than, during and after the violent January 6th assault. You’ve got mentioned conversing right away with the former President while the violence was underway on January 6th. And also you summarized your conclusions relating to President Trump’s habits on January sixth in a speech you made January thirteenth on the House flooring.

The letter quoted McCarthy, who every week after the rise up stated, “The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s assault on Congress by means of mob rioters. He will have to have immediately denounced the mob when he noticed what was unfolding.”

McCarthy issued his response on Wednesday, which was once shared on Twitter by CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane.

McCarthy mentioned, “As a consultant & the leader of the minority birthday party, it’s with neither regret nor pleasure that I have concluded to not participate with this choose committee’s abuse of power that stains this establishment nowadays and can harm it going forward.”

McCarthy used to be reportedly in contact with Trump because the Capitol rebellion unfolded. Consistent with one Republican House member, McCarthy asked Trump to name off the attackers.
