Jack Smith, the unique assistance prosecuting former President Donald Trump, asked U.S. District Courtroom Choose Tanya Chutkan to position a “slim” restrict on what Trump can say publicly over considerations of witness intimidation, a new court docket submitting unsealed Friday published.

“The defendant has an established practice of issuing inflammatory public statements focused at folks or establishments that present a disadvantage or problem to him,” Smith wrote in the submitting making clear he believes Trump has launched a campaign to discredit the entire justice gadget in advance of his trial.

Trump has been charged in Washington, DC on 4 prison counts related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Politico’s Kyle Cheney stated that Chutkan summed up Smith’s motion within the unsealed report, writing, “The government seeks to determine that Defendant has publicly criticized his perceived adversaries and is mindful that this criticism has ended in their harassment.” Cheney also cited that “witnesses testified about harassment” they have got.

Trump’s social media posts have long centered federal regulation enforcement, the FBI and DOJ, as well as judges assigned to his circumstances and hypothesis concerning a gag order has run rampant for months. NBC News highlighted some of Trump’s past statements, noting:
