Former PIX-eleven reporter Rebecca Solomon used to be touring household in Rishon LeZion, Israel, about an hour from the Gaza Strip, when Hamas launched a horrific shock assault on Israel that has up to now killed as a minimum seven-hundred folks.

Mediaite spoke with the Emmy award-successful journalist about what she is witnessing firsthand and her hope to come back dwelling to america.

“We’ve had wars for all of eternity all over — however what came about on Saturday simply takes it on to an entire new degree and things are going to get so much worse prior to they get better I fear,” Solomon, who used to be travelling her Israeli husband’s family with her husband and seven-month-old daughter when the violence broke out, instructed Mediaite.

“What we’ve been seeing, where I’m, which is set an hour north of Gaza where many of the turmoil is taking place, up in the sky are rockets, and we hear the missiles, and when that occurs we hear sirens, and when the sirens go off now we have to take safe haven, “ Solomon mentioned. “The one section that’s our saving grace, and I’m counting my advantages for, is the Iron Dome, which intercepts the missiles up within the sky so that they don’t make landfall. From time to time they do as a result of nothing is perfect, but if that’s the case we’re safe by way of the bomb shelters.”

While there is no limit in location at the moment to stay indoors, the mom of an infant mentioned she didn’t really feel secure to depart her in-laws condo, which is provided with a bomb shelter.

“I’ve chosen to be at house at their rental. I admire being right where I do know I will be able to get to safety especially now as a new mom. My daughter she’ll be eight months in a couple days and I feel most relaxed right here,”  Solomon mentioned.

Solomon, her husband and youngster are planning to fly again to america on Thursday. But even the quick shuttle to the airport can be a perilous one as the bombings proceed.

“So far as attending to the airport that’s my number one fear. The airport from right here is handiest a twenty minute drive,” Solomon mentioned, including that she’s “petrified as a result of I don’t recognize what may occur on the drive there and as we’re seeing with these reports, and my own eyes, the airport, they’re getting bombed out.”

As Solomon and her family are ready to depart Israel, she informed Mediaite, “It’s scary. It’s very eerie. Israel is a vigorous nation.  It’s so developed, and there’s so much love and pleasure within the air while you land in Israel, in Tel Aviv, anyplace you go persons are welcoming and shoving meals down your throat, and wine and track, and dancing, and procuring and there’s none of that right now. The whole lot has come to a halt. You’ve got some people who are scared and rightfully so, children who have to remain in the bomb shelters and sleep, and it’s scary. After which you have got people who find themselves now not active militia, they’re in the reserves or what have you ever, and they’re like ‘put me in.  I’m able to battle. I want to serve my united states of america.’ Sure, it’s horrifying but there’s quite a lot of strength as smartly.”

“I’m scared I won’t be able to fly out on Thursday.” Solomon mentioned. “I simply wish to go house.”
