Fox News contributor and conservative Washington Publish columnist Marc Thiessen, who has fiercely defended Donald Trump, slammed the previous president’s rant in opposition to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R)

On Thursday, Trump lashed out at DeSantis and claimed his endorsement of DeSantis in 2018 saved his gubernatorial race, which he narrowly gained.

DeSantis coasted to reelection on Tuesday when a number of high-profile Trump-backed candidates misplaced their races. Many GOP leaders questioned a few of Trump’s endorsements.

Showing on Thursday’s Different Report on Fox News, Thiessen criticized Trump for going after DeSantis.

“Just for viewpoint, I say this out of disappointment and not anger as a result of I’ve spilled more ink within the Washington Put up defending Donald Trump’s policies as president than any someone alive,” he said, prefacing his remarks. “So, I am not a never-Trumper. I did a lot to protect him when he was once president.”

Thiessen explained people he spoke with in Florida like each Trump and DeSantis, but are at a loss for words via the previous president’s attack on their governor. He said, they’re “torn by way of this.”

“So, when they see Trump going after DeSantis they’re like, ‘What’s he doing? Why is he going after him?’” Thiessen said. “And it’s like gazing your oldsters struggle, you know? And so, going after him preemptively in this approach could be very counterproductive and it makes Trump appear desperate and it makes Trump look weak and who knows what the end result will be? But it surely’s no longer a powerful play for him.”
