CNN anchor Jake Tapper voiced some lighthearted frustration Thursday on the proliferation of competing social media structures amid Elon Musk’s ongoing stumbles with Twitter, declaring that Threads was once enough.

Meta, the mother or father firm of Facebook and Instagram, launched text-based app Threads Wednesday evening as Musk’s management of Twitter continues to incur reputedly constant criticism. Threads benefitted from the power for Instagram customers to simply import their bios and lists of followers. Mark Zuckerberg took a few victory laps as his app was deemed a “Twitter Killer” with the aid of many commentators, scooped up tens of millions of customers in its first few hours, and even drew a lawsuit risk from Twitter’s criminal team.

Tapper popped into CNN Information Important to promote his upcoming interview on The Lead with GOP presidential candidate and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, chatting along with his colleague Brianna Keilar about what questions he should ask.

Christie “doesn’t in point of fact pull punches when he answers questions” and is “such an interesting person to interview,” said Keilar.

Tapper agreed, quoting a lyric from a tune that was a primary single for Janis Joplin, “Freedom’s just every other word for nothin’ left to lose.”

“He’s working as if he has nothing to lose,” Tapper persevered, “and he’s just going to call it as he sees it.” It wasn’t clear if the strategy would pay off — Christie has made small positive aspects in contemporary polls however continues to be a ways behind the frontrunner, former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — “but it’s early and it is just July,” and Christie was once “working as if he isn’t essentially worried about offending this individual or that person” and “is solely announcing what he thinks.”

Keilar replied that she thought it would be a “great” interview and urged that Tapper ask Christie about Threads.

“Threads, this new social media thing?” asked Tapper.

“Yeah, yeah, that’s what we want,” she mentioned and indicated the producers have been signaling her to wrap it up so they may go to commercial to steer in to Tapper’s show.

“The one thing I have to assert is, I don’t want any more social media platforms,” said Tapper. “That’s enough, stop it, with the Threads. Threads, finish. No extra. I’m on like 30 of them. I will’t keep up!”

“Wow. Thirty is loads,” quipped Jim Sciutto as he introduced other news.
