Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) used to be pressed on Friday by a local Texas news anchor on his contentious relationship with Lawyer General Ken Paxton (R).

Ryan Chandler of Texas’s Kxan-News asked Cornyn, “Attorney General Ken Paxton, who has the job you used to have has no longer so subtly implied that he could prefer to problem you in a major should you run again. Are you worried a few chance from a Paxton major?”

“I sleep very well at night,” answered Cornyn – a high contender to switch Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as GOP chief in the Senate.

“So I’m not too involved about it. My remaining election, I had a chief. I had several major opponents, and I acquired seventy six% of the vote. And so I notice I’m no longer going to get a hundred% of the vote. And contested primaries in fact make you a greater candidate within the general election, in my expertise. So, no, I’m not too worried about it. And that’s still fairly a methods off. And, and I assume plenty of it’s speculative. It’s now not, it’s now not, it’s not truly actual,” Cornyn introduced.

“Do you may have a working relationship with the attorney general, although? I do know you all prefer to spar on Twitter fairly somewhat, however, are you productive in any work you might have to to speak about?” Chandler adopted up, noting the acrimony between the 2.

“Smartly, there’s so much we agree on. And, and, , having held that job for 4 years as the manager law enforcement officer for the state, I’ve robust feelings about how that job should be performed. However now my job is totally different. And, it’s to characterize, anyone here in Texas and work with all of our elected officials, together with the lawyer basic,” Cornyn spoke back.

Cornyn and Paxton have traded barbs online with Paxton slamming Cornyn for his willingness to make bipartisan comprises and Cornyn jabbing Paxton over his quite a lot of corruption allegations.
