Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) joined C-SPAN’s Washington Journal on Thursday and was once asked through host Greta Brawner about latest allegations leveled towards him with the aid of fellow Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

“I’ve to ask you prior to you go about this back and forth together with your colleague, Marjorie Taylor Greene, claims you bought bodily aggressive together with her. Can you explain what took place?” Brawner requested.

“So I in truth went up to her. I had a disappointing conversation with any person else, the disappointment. I got here up to her, I placed my fingers on her shoulder, stated, ‘At least you and I will be able to have a decent dialog,’” McCormick spoke back, offering his tackle the incident.

“That’s all I said. You know, it’s humorous, I, on a daily basis, I’m an ER doc, I imagine in the power of contact. I supply people hugs. I shake people’s palms,” he persevered, including:

When you have a look at the floor on any given day. Just look at C-SPAN, take a look at the floor and notice how much touching there’s. All and sundry touches all and sundry. By no means. You recognize, I’m no longer going to touch her once more, that’s evidently. I’m sorry she took offense to that, however it undoubtedly wasn’t intended aggressively. It was once meant actually as a praise. That’s what’s so frustrating about this. I’m not certain I’ve considered the story evolve. It’s it’s you realize, it was on the floor in front of individuals. I believe myself an extraordinarily friendly, gregarious person.

I need to get together with my colleagues. Clearly, I don’t call individuals names on the floor. I don’t go round insulting individuals. Other People do that. I don’t. I feel that’s past my reputation. I don’t assume that’s the rest I would ever do on the ground. I play rugby, I’m a Marine, I’m an aggressive guy in certain circumstances, but by no means on the ground of the Home of Representatives where I want to get along with people, in the event you look at my rhetoric, in the event you seem to be what we’ve passed, when I did the censorship on Rashida Tlaib, 22 Democrats voted for that. Why? Because I’ve good relationships and because I will talk to individuals and we can we can if truth be told remedy issues. I’m now not there to make enemies. I’m there to make pals.

In early December, CNN mentioned that Greene had complained to Home Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) that McCormick “grabbed her via the shoulders and shook her” and later advised CNN right away that she viewed his behavior as “severe.”
