Tapper needed him to grasp his wisdom was favored, even if it used to be coming from a community that Buck’s conservative constituency would possibly no longer revel in:

Tapper: Congressman, excellent to look you. Thanks a lot for being right here. One thing, I don’t be aware of when you’ve heard, however we’ve if truth be told been praising you on the convey. And I am hoping that doesn’t hurt you at residence.

Laughs aside, Buck made it very clear that regardless of his unquestionably conservative record, to assert nothing of his affiliation with the Freedom Caucus, he will not reinforce a Speaker of the Home who can be an election denier:

I want the next speaker to renowned that [President Joe Biden received the 2020 election]. I also wish to make sure that we don’t have somebody who was once concerned in the activities surrounding January sixth. And I feel that if now we have a presidential candidate who, at the moment, is best, who denies that he lost the election and used to be clearly behind what happened on January sixth, and we now have a speaker in a similar situation…

We’ve got 20 Republicans sitting in Joe Biden districts at the moment, districts that Joe Biden received in 2020, and people 20 Republicans are going to be in danger. There’s no way we win the bulk if the message we ship to the American folks is that we consider that the election was stolen and we imagine that January sixth was ok. It was a “tour of the Capitol.”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who’s up for the speakership and misplaced his first floor vote, has denied the results of the 2020 election and played a role within the January 6 rebellion.
