Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) threw out Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) from a committee listening to concerning U.S.-Cuba members of the family, announcing she spread “communist propaganda.”

On Thursday, the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of the House Overseas Affairs Committee convened to talk about U.S. policy regarding Cuba. Salazar, who chairs the committee, has condemned Cuba over humanitarian abuses within the country.

Salazar responded to Lee’s complaints online by mentioning she was thrown out for spreading “communist propaganda” via calling for peaceable members of the family with Cuba.

“Today, I exercised my authority as Subcommittee Chairwoman to not permit an off-Committee Member to unfold communist propaganda throughout my Cuba hearing,” Salazar wrote. “Members should not entitled to enroll in any Committee complaints with out full consent of the Committee Contributors.”
