Alongside her legal professional Roberta Kaplan, Carroll informed CNN anchors Poppy Harlow and Phil Mattingly about seeing Trump in court, the primary time she had viewed the ex-president in individual on account that he assaulted her in 1996:

Carroll: I hadn’t considered him for the reason that he assaulted me within the dressing room. And making ready to look him used to be terrifying. The times leading up, Robbie brought me round enhanced and stronger, it was so… I hadn’t slept, I hadn’t eaten, I couldn’t think, I lost my language when she was once looking to prepare me to move, to do testimony in entrance of Donald Trump. After which once we have been within the courtroom, and Robbie went to the lectern, she mentioned, “Good morning, E. Jean. Please state your name and spell it for the jury, for the court.”

And there he used to be, and he was once nothing. Just, no power. He had, he was zero. I was flabbergasted. And from then on, we just sailed via. She brought me in. She mentioned, “Say your title.” And I just looked at Robbie, noticed he was once nothing, and came up from there.

Harlow: Did you did you’re making eye contact with him?

Carroll: Many times.

Harlow: And what was that like?

Carroll: He’s an emperor with out clothes. It’s like having a look at nothing. It used to be like nothing.

She later mentioned:

I had been prepared for the worst drive, you already know, in the world as of late, essentially the most powerful, among the best, the most money, the richest, the most, you realize. And there he is, he’s nothing! It’s just the folks around him who supply him the power. It’s the emperor without garments. It’s Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy story. Folks simply gave him garments when he wasn’t wearing any, understand that the fairy tale? So that’s Donald Trump.

Kaplan also described her ideas when Trump stormed out of the court:

[T]he choose said one thing, he instructed me that, he told the entire court that he’d gotten up and left and walked out. And I thought to myself, “Whoa.” Like in a case about whether or not you can apply the principles or no longer, and you cannot be a bully, now not following the principles and acting like a bully is just not a just right move. So I thought to myself, like, k, that’s simply going to offer us extra money. Honestly.

Trump was once discovered responsible for sexually abusing Carroll closing May. Following the allegations by way of Carroll in 2019, Trump lashed out and continues to take action, denying he knew her and hurling insults at her that she claimed cost her her livelihood and reputation.
