Sen. Mark Kelly Mocks GOP Rival Blake Masters Over Abortion Beliefs - 'I Don't Even Know What That Means'

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) defeated his Trump-backed Republican challenger Blake Masters in Arizona’s U.S. Senate election, in line with Cook Political Record.

Kelly, a former astronaut and the husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), gained a special election in 2020 towards Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ).

The seat was once previously held through the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who died in 2018.

The Democratic victory diminishes Republicans’ probabilities of retaking the 50-50 Senate, which Democrats keep watch over with the aid of advantage of keeping the presidency. Two different Senate races have but to be decided. Georgia’s election is headed to a runoff between Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Herschel Walker (R-GA) in December. Meanwhile, Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) slightly trails Adam Laxalt (R-NV) in Nevada, though heaps of votes have yet to remember.

Masters, a mission capitalist, was once boosted in the GOP main through Silicon Valley insider and tech billionaire Peter Thiel, who poured over 10 million bucks into the race. Masters sparked a series of controversies during the marketing campaign as earlier feedback surfaced suggesting Jan. 6 was once a false flag operation, among different dubious claims.

Masters also worked to shift towards the guts all the way through the overall election, scrubbing his campaign website of his hardline anti-abortion stance and beef up for baseless allegations that the 2020 election was once stolen. Arizona was floor zero all over this cycle in checking out the electability of candidates labeled as election deniers as your entire GOP slate of statewide candidates had fervently denied the 2020 results and embraced former President Donald Trump’s false claims about the election.

Kelly, who managed to maintain a significantly larger approval ranking in the swing state than President Joe Biden, managed to deal with a slim lead over Masters all through the marketing campaign.

In step with the RealClearPolitics moderate of polling, Kelly led Masters by one point within the days sooner than election day, and at no level all the way through the race did Masters dangle a lead.
