CNN anchor Chris Wallace twisted the knife when he asked actor/producer Matt Damon a few resolution Damon acknowledges cost him “the foremost money an actor ever became down” — something like $250 million.

On this week’s episodes of Wallace’s Max/CNN series Who’s Speaking to Chris Wallace, Wallace interviewed Damon and movie famous person Laura Linney. The Damon interview used to be performed prior to the SAG/AFTRA strike, which prompted Damon and his castmates to stroll out of the Oppenheimer ultimate.

In his interview with Damon, Wallace good-naturedly picked at a multi-hundred-million-buck scab when he asked the actor to explain how he turned down a job in 2009’s Avatar that will have paid off the nationwide debts of several small nations:

WALLACE: For all the talk about brains and technique. In 2009 you flip down the lead within the film Avatar, by which the director, now not a bad director named James Cameron offered you a percentage of the film, which you apparently had found out was once going to be 250…would were…

DAMON: It’s one thing terrible like that. It’s one thing, it’s like, I’m positive it’s the foremost money an actor ever grew to become down, you understand?

WALLACE: And supposedly this was once since you had a commitment to the Bourne sequence.

DAMON: I did. I had, I had. I had a contract…I used to be in the middle of shooting the Bourne film and I knew that we have been going to need work at the end and I had to get it all the strategy to the finish line and I would have to go away the film kind of early and leave them within the lurch somewhat bit and I didn’t wish to try this. I desperately wished to work with Cameron. I mean, as a result of he worked so rarely.

WALLACE: Honestly, Matt, if you had identified that Avatar was once going to be the largest grossing movie of all time and you were going to have 10% of the after. Might now we have maybe delay the Bourne series.

DAMON: This is like…this is like that question. No it’s much less much much less consequential, that used to be only a shaggy dog story. dumb simply but however no, I imply, I don’t I don’t know how I may have left the all my chums in the lurch. You recognize what I imply? It might have… my favourite reaction to this used to be, I advised John Krasinski, we had been scripting this little movie a very long time in the past known as “Promised Land” and we had been in my kitchen and it was once a Saturday morning and we were on a break and I stated, Yeah, I inform him about Avatar, and he launches himself out of the chair. He starts pacing the kitchen, he goes, ok, okay, okay. oKay, ok. Nothing for your lifestyles could be totally different these days if you had done that film, except you and I might be having this conversation in house. I would had been the same guy…

WALLACE: So he’s trying to make you’re feeling better about something that you just have been…

DAMON: I would were the same man, I simply would have had an area station.
