CNN anchor Chris Wallace managed to make comic actor Larry David snicker with a well-timed crack as they mentioned the notorious Seinfeld ode to masturbation referred to as, “The Contest.”

Wallace interviewed David for this week’s version of his Max sequence Who’s Speaking to Chris Wallace on plenty of topics, together with politics, his signature balk-com Curb Your Enthusiasm, and his persona.

While David regularly had Wallace in stitches, Wallace got off (pardon the pun) a excellent line as they mentioned perhaps the most well-known episodes of the seminal (sorry) comedy series:

WALLACE: Well, that’s one thing (Yeah.) You started Seinfeld in 1989. And I want to play a clip from perhaps the most famous episode “The Contest” that received you an Emmy, and TV Guide, that groovy authority, said was the best episode of TV ever.

DAVID: Is that proper? (Yeah.)

WALLACE: So initially, how did you come up with that concept?

DAVID: I had a contest with a friend. (Literally?), literally, (that that contest?) that contest. (Who could put it off longer?) Sure, I had a contest.

WALLACE: After which what have been the results of stated contest?

DAVID: I was once certainly the winner. (In reality?) Yeah. (What you go 2 days?) *laughs* Anyway, that’s the place they came from.

WALLACE: And how so much hassle did you could have getting it prior the NBC censors?

DAVID: Regularly, the community would they’d, after they would come into the room after a convey or after a run via. They might have a look at our board and see upcoming shows. And so they’d say what’s that one about? What’s that one about? And for “the contest,” I didn’t put it up on the board as a result of I didn’t want them asking what it was once about because I knew they wouldn’t do it. They got here to a read-through, and they heard the convey. And in my head, I’m going smartly, in the event that they don’t let in the event that they don’t allow us to do that, I’m finished. I’m quitting. Soon as they say, No, we’re no longer doing it. And I’ve bought the whole speech in my head. Sorry, good luck. I’m done. You realize, that’s what I used to be gonna do. I was once gonna cease. However then we have the read thru it got great laughs. They got here back to our place of job. And they didn’t say a phrase. I used to be surprised.

WALLACE: Maybe a bit of disenchanted too?

DAVID: Yeah, would had been a good scene. I overlooked out on an immense dramatic second.

WALLACE: So why do you think they let it go?

DAVID: I don’t know. I don’t be aware of. I suppose because they heard laughs and when they hear laughs it more or less modifications their occupied with something.
