Uri Berliner, the veteran NPR editor who accused the outlet of liberal bias past this month, introduced his resignation on Wednesday.

NPR suspended Berliner after he criticized the general public radio community in an op-ed and interview with The Free Press. In the future later, he resigned.

“I’m resigning from NPR, an excellent American establishment where I have labored for 25 years,” he wrote in his resignation, which he posted to X, formerly Twitter.

“I don’t enhance calls to defund NPR,” Berliner wrote. “I recognize the integrity of my colleagues and wish for NPR to thrive and do essential journalism. However I can not work in a newsroom the place I am disparaged with the aid of a brand new CEO whose divisive views ascertain the very issues at NPR I cite in my Free Press essay.”
