Author James Patterson trended on Twitter on Monday for all the wrong causes. The prolific writer, who has revealed over 200 books and bought some four hundred million copies, lambasted the alleged problem White male writers are actually having getting jobs, a sentiment which landed him in sizzling water on-line.

Patterson, 75, made the controversial feedback in an interview with The Sunday Occasions. “[It’s] simply another form of racism,” Patterson said. “What’s that every one about? Are you able to get a job? Sure. Is it tougher? Sure. It’s even harder for older writers. You don’t meet many fifty two-year-old white males.”

The comments got here in response to the interviewer noting that one among Patterson’s most famed characters was a Black man: Alex Pass.

“I just wanted to create a personality who took place to be black,” he mentioned. “I shouldn’t have tried to put in writing a major saga about a black household. It’s completely different in a detective story as a result of plot is so necessary.”

“I get it. How may we run via that period, particularly in Hollywood, where there used to be all this skill and nobody received hired?” Patterson requested.

Patterson also discussed Woody Allen’s writer losing his memoir.

“I hated that,” Patterson mentioned. “He has the right to tell his own story.”

“Do I know what went on between Allen and the Farrows?” Patterson notes. “Nope. And neither do you.”

Reactions from Twitter weren’t kind to the author, as many blasted Patterson as lacking self-consciousness given the tremendous success he has completed:

I’m a 50-12 months-old white creator. And, to James Patterson I say, warmly, boo-fucking-hoo https://t.co/IwBQMpWrh6

James Patterson thinks white men are going through racism in publishing. From a Black man who has had over 50 rejections of books (all of which are actually bestsellers) as a result of white editors don’t keep in mind them or “already have Black male authors”… shut up. Also, James has a ghostwriter. https://t.co/PSoiffvAHT

I’m still mad about James Patterson clumsily seeking to discuss race so I checked this week’s bestseller list and huh, he’s proper there are so few white dudes and so many individuals of shade.

LOL, now not in reality.

to be truthful, older white males do expertise any other type of racism, wherein lots of people suppose that they’re stuck in whatever years their high was, and in most cases simply roughly call to mind them as being dickweeds, like james patterson

the opposite form of racism, “actual,” is worse! https://t.co/9b1gx3foB1

The humorous thing about James Patterson crying that the e-book industry is racist in opposition to rich, previous white men, is that most of his ghostwriters aren’t even rich, previous, white men.

If we’re being sincere, James Patterson and his exorbitant multi-determine advances for books he doesn’t write are ninety% of the issue with publishing.
