In his observation, Biden refers to Kissinger’s “fierce mind,” but that’s the extent of his reward:

I’ll by no means omit the primary time I met Dr. Kissinger. I was a younger Senator, and he used to be Secretary of State—giving a briefing on the state of the world. Right through our careers, we incessantly disagreed. And regularly strongly. But from that first briefing — his fierce mind and profound strategic center of attention was once evident. Long after retiring from government, he persisted to provide his views and ideas to an important coverage discussion across more than one generations. Jill and I ship our condolences to his wife Nancy, his youngsters Elizabeth and David, his grandchildren, and all folks that loved him.

Reactions to Kissinger’s death on the left have ranged from indifference to pleasure.
