Apple advertising chief Phil Schiller appeared as a witness throughout a damages retrial between the two companies in a San Jose, California, federal courtroom. Schiller also denied that Apple launched the iPad mini as a response to competitors in the tablet market, saying Apple was simply trying to make a greater product. “It’s so much tougher to create demand and other people question our innovation and design talents like folks by no means used to,” Schiller said, adding that Samsung “weakened the arena view of Apple as this great clothier and innovator.” Apple and Samsung are engaged in global litigation over each different’s patents.
